Group C is the one that England fans and favourite-bettors will be waiting for, as this is where Southgate’s men get to strut their stuff.

The group kicks off on June 16th, but the action has already begun on our EURO betting markets. You can currently bet on the England Squad Selection, choosing whether certain players will make the 26-man squad. This market will be available until the squad is announced. Click here to place your squad selection bets, or read on for our EURO 2024 group stage betting guide for Group C.

Betting on EURO Group Matches: An Intro for Group C

Group C doesn’t seem like the most competitive group at first glance. It contains the tournament’s favourites, sure, but the team with the second-highest group stage odds are 10th in the overall betting and 21st in the FIFA World Rankings. Compare that to Group B, which has three of the top ten favourites, and it looks like a stroll in the park for England.

But this is football—anything can happen. If England drop points in their opener against Serbia, they will then have to go to an arguably tougher Denmark, knowing that their tournament could be over with a loss. It has happened before. At EURO 2000, England lost their opener against Portugal, beat Germany, and then lost to Romania, crashing out before the knockout rounds. And that was an experienced team that included the likes of Shearer, Scholes, Owen, Seaman, Campbell, Adams, and Neville.

Don’t write off the others, either. Denmark will field quality players like Eriksen and Højlund, Serbia have the towering, clinical might of Mitrovic, and Slovenia were excellent during the qualifiers. If you’re betting on EURO 2024, there’s a lot of potential in this group. So, let’s take a closer look at some EURO 2024 group stage betting opportunities.

Bet on Group C outright markets

Slovenia Betting Guide

Early group stage odds rank Slovenia as the outsiders of Group C, but in our main EURO 2024 betting guide, we noted that they could have “dark horse” potential. If you’re plotting some EURO betting strategies and already thinking about an England/Denmark progression, these guys could complicate things for you.

How They Got Here

Slovenia were drawn in the same qualifying group as Denmark and finished on the same points as them. They had a better goal difference, scoring more and conceding less, but ultimately finished second due to head-to-head results. There was very little separating the two, which could concern Denmark in the finals.

In their March 2024 friendlies, Slovenia recorded a lack-lustre draw away to Malta before grabbing a 2-0 win at home to Portugal. It suggests that an in-form Slovenia can beat the best teams in Europe.

Players to Watch Out For

If you pay attention to transfer rumours, you will have seen Benjamin Sesko’s name a lot over the last year or so. The RB Leipzig forward is only 20 years old, but he’s closing in on 30 caps for his country and has over 50 club goals to his name. He is 6ft 5in tall and gifted with a great first touch and incredible technique. He will make life difficult for opposition defenders and could be the difference maker.

Slovenia can turn to the reliable Jan Oblak in goal. He will probably have his work cut out, considering the wealth of attacking talent in the group, but the Atletico Madrid shot-stopper is used to facing off against the best in La Liga, so he’s more than prepared.

Slovenia EURO 2024 Odds

Slovenia are the group and tournament outsiders. Despite their relatively solid form, few think they have what it takes to overcome England and Denmark. They could have a better chance against Serbia, though, and as the third-place-finishers rule is in effect, that might be enough. Still, 3 points likely won’t be enough, so they need to find points elsewhere.

Betting on Slovenia in EURO 2024

Early group stage odds rank Slovenia as the outsiders of Group C, but in our main EURO 2024 betting guide, we noted that they could have “dark horse” potential. If you’re plotting some EURO betting strategies and already thinking about an England/Denmark progression, these guys could complicate things for

If Slovenia are going to progress through this tough group, they need to start well and fight for at least a point in their opening game against Denmark. The two were close in qualifying and Slovenia will have a good idea of how Denmark play, but the same could be said for the Danes.

They play Serbia in their second game, and that will prove to be the decisive match. If they can get four points from these two games, they can relax a little against England in their final group fixture.

If you’re thinking about betting on EURO knockout rounds, leave room for Slovenia, as that will be their goal and they’ll firmly believe they have what it takes to achieve it.

Denmark Betting Guide

It seems like a long time ago now, but Denmark enter this tournament as one of the few title holders. They weren’t given much of a chance back in 1992 and didn’t even qualify (they entered the tournament when Yugoslavia dropped out), but now they pose an actual threat. They are still outsiders, but many expect them to advance to the knockout rounds and once there, anything can happen.

How They Got Here

As noted above, Denmark were in the same qualifying group as Slovenia and finished on the same points as them. Their four points over the two head-to-heads is the reason they topped the group. They lost twice during that campaign, with the first of those losses coming against Kazakhstan. It was a shock defeat that doesn’t look great in the Danish form book, but Kazakhstan are not the minnows they once were and have put together a great side in recent years—they finished with twice as many points as Northern Ireland, after all.

Speaking of Northern Ireland, they humbled Denmark in the final game of the group, subjecting them to a 2-0 loss and a disappointing end to the qualifying campaign. This was followed by two March friendlies in which they drew 0-0 with Switzerland and beat the Faroe Islands 2-0.

Players to Watch Out For

Kasper Schmeichel will likely start in goal for Denmark. The former Leicester City ‘keeper will be hoping that the Danes can repeat their surprise EURO win in 1992 when his father, Peter, stood between the posts.

They lost Christensen to injury but can turn to the talents of Kjaer, Anderson, and Maehle to keep their backline stable. Eriksen missed a number of qualifiers but will return to the midfield for the tournament. Hojbjerg will also be one of the first names on the team sheet.

In attack, Manchester United fans should see their own Rasmus Højlund lead the line, with Jonas Wind of Wolfsburg also giving Denmark options. Højlund hasn’t had the explosive start to Premier League life that many United fans hoped for, but he has started to find his feet in recent months and seems to be ending the season well. He will take that form to the EUROs, where Denmark will rely on his strength and finishing prowess. It’s also worth noting that while his club goal tally isn’t great, Højlund has 7 in 12 for Denmark.

Denmark EURO 2024 Odds

Denmark are currently the same price to win EURO 2024 as Croatia. Croatia have a lot more experience at the highest level and have run deep in a few recent competitions, but they are also in a very tough group whereas Denmark are expected to advance with relative ease.

The Danes are clear second favourites, and you can also get some good prices on their star players winning the Top Goalscorer or Best Player awards. If you’re a United fan contemplating placing some money on Højlund, remember that it’s not always the quality of the player that matters but the quality of the opposition. He might be good in front of goal, but that doesn’t count for much if Denmark face tough defences in the group and then drop out in the Round of 16.

Betting on Denmark in EURO 2024

The Premier League trio of Højlund, Hojbjerg, and Eriksen will be crucial for Denmark going into this tournament. If they can stay injury-free and maintain a good run of form, they can help Denmark explode out of the blocks and ensure there are no missteps in a group that could cause problems.

They are projected to finish in the top two places, and if they falter, you’d expect them to have enough to make it through as a third-place finisher. However, there is a huge difference between first, second, and third in this group. The team that finishes second could find themselves going up against hosts Germany in the Round of 16, while those in third will face-off against a group winner.

They will have their eye on the top spot. That could mean they need to beat England in the head-to-head, but this is a confident Danish team, and they will fancy their chances of doing that.

Serbia Betting Guide

All football tournament betting strategies include a dark horse or two, and Serbia have been given that moniker a few times. However, this Serbian team doesn’t look as strong as some of the ones they fielded in the past. So, how will this tournament go for the Eagles?

How They Got Here

Serbia were drawn into a tough qualifying group with Montenegro, Lithuania, Bulgaria, and Hungary. Hungary went unbeaten throughout and topped the group, with Serbia four points behind in second.

Their form doesn’t make for easy reading. They have played 10 games in 2023 and 2024 and have won just four times, with losses against Russia, Hungary, and Belgium.

Players to Watch Out For

If you mainly watch the Premier League, Serbia will be an unknown entity, and you likely won’t recognise many names on the team sheet. This is an experienced team, though, and they have a lot of quality players who have been earning experience across Europe’s major leagues.

Milenković is a prime example and one of the players that will be tasked with keeping Kane and Højlund in check. He is just 26 years old, but he has already earned over 50 caps for his country and has played more than 200 times for Florentina. The towering centre back has faced some of the best strikers in the world and won’t be intimidated by any of the number 9s in this tournament.

Tadic will play a big role in midfield. He’s in his mid-thirties now, and this could be his last EUROs, but he’s still more than capable. The playmaker will likely link up with Sasa Lukic of Fulham, one of the only Premier League players in the Serbia squad.

Fulham fans will also get another glimpse at Mitrovic, who will lead the attack. Their goal-scoring ability will hinge on Mitrovic’s fitness and form. At his best, he can pose a serious threat to both England’s and Denmark’s attack, but if they keep him quiet, it’s hard to see where the goals will come from.

Mitrovic scored close to 100 goals for Fulham before leaving for Saudi Arabia, where he has averaged a goal per game. He will relish playing against the continent’s best defences again.

Serbia EURO 2024 Odds

Serbia are the third favourites in the group and you can get a big price for them in the tournament outright markets. Oddsmakers haven’t given them much of a chance against England in their opener, and current odds suggest they will be beaten comfortably (final match odds may differ).

Betting on Serbia in EURO 2024

Although they won’t expect to get much from their opener, Serbia will still field their strongest team and go all-out against England. They may adopt a defensive formation and try to frustrate the English, knowing that a single point is all it takes to change the course of this group and give them a huge boost as they turn their attention to Slovenia.

Check the latest group stage odds and pay attention to squad selection and injuries if you’re thinking about betting on Serbia in EURO 2024.

England Betting Guide

England have not won a major international football tournament since the 1966 World Cup. That’s a long time to wait for a team that has consistently been ranked as one of the best in the world. However, there is a feeling that this is England’s time and that the current crop of players have what it takes to repeat the feats of Moore, Charlton, and Co.

How They Got Here

England were drawn into a tough qualifying group that included both Italy and Ukraine, two teams that also made it to the finals. They didn’t lose a single game in that campaign and only dropped points twice, first against Ukraine and then against North Macedonia.

They also had the two top scorers in the group—Kane and Saka—and notched an impressive 22 goals over the course of 8 games. It wasn’t quite flawless, but it was a solid campaign that allowed them to test a few formations and players.

England weren’t as consistent during their March friendlies, though. These games were clearly chosen to match England against the best in the world—Brazil and Belgium. But they lost against Brazil and could only draw against Belgium. They play twice more before the EUROs begin and have opted for European opponents that won’t feature at the EUROs—Bosnia and Iceland. We might learn more from these games, but they are really just warm ups for the final squad.

Players to Watch Out For

If you take a cursory glance at the England squad, you could be forgiven for thinking that these European Championships and the next World Cup are the last chances the nation has of securing a major title with a golden generation. Kane, Walker, Henderson, Pickford, Maguire, and Trippier are all in their thirties, and it’s hard to imagine them getting picked for an England squad in 2028, assuming they haven’t retired.

But the most promising players are all under the age of 25, and it’s those players that will define the future of this team. Rather than seeing this tournament as the end of an era, we should be seeing it as the beginning of a new one.

Foden is one of the most exciting players in that new generation. He can drop into an attacking midfield role or push into the striker position. He creates, scores, and terrorises defences. He will be joined by Saka, another young superstar who has been tearing up the Premier League this season.

Combined, Saka and Foden have over 30 Premier League goals in 2023/24, which is incredible when you consider that neither of them are out-and-out strikers. Add Kane to the mix, and you have an attack that can beat any team in the EUROs. We have seen a lot of EURO football betting tips revolving around these players and the top goalscorer markets. It’s worth remembering, however, that the England setup is very different from those at Arsenal and Man City, and there’s no guarantee they will be given the same freedoms in attack.

Cole Palmer is also a consideration, and he could give Gareth Southgate a few headaches. He has been the silver lining in Chelsea’s very cloudy season. He has technique, skill, vision, and the clinical finishing of a seasoned striker. But playing him means either dropping Saka, Foden, or Kane, which would be unthinkable, or trying to drop one of them into midfield. A midfield, by the way, that should feature the unstoppable Bellingham and the reliable Rice.

There are some difficult decisions, to say the least, and that’s before you consider the full-back situation. At right-back alone, Southgate must choose from Alexander-Arnold, Walker, and Trippier, three of the best full-backs in the Premier League right now.

Pessimistic England fans might be surprised to see their team at the top of the outright betting markets, with oddsmakers making them the favourites ahead of France. But when you look at the squad, it all makes sense.

England EURO 2024 Odds

England are the tournament favourites and the group favourites. A lot is expected of them going into this one, and that will worry some England fans. They haven’t always dealt well with expectation, especially when the performances start slipping and the media gets on their backs.

Betting on England in EURO 2024

The England team of 2021 and 2022 was decent and perhaps should have done better in the big competitions. Today’s England team is slightly different, but it’s different in a huge way. Players like Rice are older and wiser, and they now have the likes of Mainoo and Bellingham. What’s more, they can still turn to Harry Kane for the goals and utilise some of the best full-backs in world football.

Expectations are high, and one look at the squad will tell you why.

Group C Group Stage Odds

For many bettors, Group C will be a foregone conclusion. They will skip straight to EURO knockout stage odds and prepare for an England/Denmark progression. Serbia and Slovenia will have something to say about that, though, and they have more than enough talent and experience to make life difficult for these two titans. As with all major football tournament betting strategies, write off the underdogs at your peril!
