Super Bowl LVI is scheduled to be played on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The game is being held a week later than normal with the NFL adopting an 18-week regular-season schedule for the first time. It is the first championship game at SoFi Stadium, the $5 billion crown jewel of Rams owner Stan Kroenke that opened in 2020.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the defending champions, with quarterback Tom Brady collecting his record seventh Super Bowl ring in a dominating 31-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in February 2021. The Bucs became the first time to play in – and win – a Super Bowl in their home stadium.
Annually the most-watched sporting event in North America, Super Bowl LV drew 96.4 million viewers. That was down from the all-time record of 114.4 million viewers set in 2015, but the game was still a massive draw despite the blowout score and government recommendations to avoid traditional large Super Bowl parties in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Nielsen data, a record 5.7 million viewers watched the game over a digital stream – up 65 percent from the previous year. And advertisers paid an average of $5.5 million for a 30-second commercial spot during Super Bowl LV.
Super Bowl LVI will be televised by NBC and available for livestream on Peacock and the NBC Sports app. The game will take place in the middle of the Beijing Olympics, also being broadcast by NBC.
The halftime show will include performances by Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar.
Despite their lopsided loss in Super Bowl LV, the Kansas City Chiefs opened as significant favorites to claim the title in 2022. The next-shortest preseason Super Bowl odds belonged to Tampa Bay along with the Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers, the Rams and the San Francisco 49ers.
While the Chiefs suffered through some early-season struggles, the Bills got off to a 4-1 record to take the early lead in the AFC. However, Kansas City quickly rebounded while Buffalo lost four games in a six-game stretch – including a stunning loss at Jacksonville.
The Bills found themselves in a neck-and-neck battle in the AFC East with the New England Patriots to begin December. The Patriots surged under the quick maturation of rookie quarterback Mac Jones. If New England is the biggest surprise contender in the AFC, Baltimore has suffered through a rash of injuries that are contributing to the Ravens fighting just to reach the postseason.
Tennessee, the co-preseason favorite with Indianapolis in the AFC South, has managed to stay in the race for a potential first-round bye despite the loss of superstar running back Derrick Henry. Henry is out for at least the rest of the regular season with a foot injury, although the Titans hope he might be able to return for the playoffs.
The Packers opened with a Week 1 blowout loss, but Aaron Rodgers & Co. quickly brushed that off to again emerge as one of the biggest threats in the NFC along with Tampa Bay. Brady is dealing with injuries to his chest of playmaking weapons, including wide receiver Chris Godwin being lost to a season-ending knee injury on Dec. 19.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys have established themselves as the class of the NFC East on the back of a strong defense. The NFC West remains a tight battle with the Arizona Cardinals the last team to suffer a loss this season but now trying to fend off the Rams.
A couple of dangerous teams are lurking around the wild-card pictures, led by the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC and the Chargers and Colts in the AFC.
It’s the Chiefs and Packers who currently have the shortest Super Bowl odds at +550 at Casumo. The next-shortest odds to win the Super Bowl belong to the Buccaneers (+700) and the Patriots (+1100).
There are numerous ways to bet on the success – or struggles – of players and teams for the remainder of the season beyond straight Super Bowl betting odds.
Rodgers, the reigning NFL MVP, has emerged as one of the leading contenders to win the award again despite playing through a painful toe injury. Also in the mix is Brady along with Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, who has taken the reins as the league’s most productive running back with Henry sidelined.
In addition to Super Bowl betting odds, other futures markets include wagering on who will win the AFC and NFC conferences. Casumo also offers odds on which team will win each of the NFL’s eight divisions.
Kansas City and Dallas are overwhelming favorites to win their divisions, but the other six have remained tight battles late into the season. That includes the AFC North, where all four teams have stayed in contention, thanks in large part to the Ravens’ struggles.
The No. 1 seed in each conference comes along with a first-round bye, giving teams extra incentive to battle through the end of the regular season. Kansas City, New England and Tennessee are the current leaders in the AFC, while Green Bay, Dallas and Tampa Bay are jockeying for position atop the NFC.
The odds for Super Bowl LVI will be established as soon as the two conference championship winners are decided on Jan. 30.
The three most popular Super Bowl betting lines are the points spread, the moneyline and the Over/Under.
Oddsmakers will set the point spread based on the two teams that reach the game. For example, if a team is favored by 2.5 points, a wager placed on the favorite means that team must win by three or more points. Conversely, a wager on the underdog means the bet pays out if that team wins the game or loses by two points or fewer.
The moneyline provides an opportunity to wager directly on the outcome of a game. A winning bet on the favored team will pay out less than a successful wager on the underdog.
Oddsmakers will also set an Over/Under points total for the game. Betting the Over is a wager that the two teams will combine to score more points, while the Under is a bet that fewer combined points will be scored.
Sportsbooks often offer point spreads, moneylines and Over/Under markets for specific halves and quarters of games as well.
Live betting is a way to take part in Super Bowl odds during the game – although you might have to divert your attention from the $5 million commercial spots to focus on the shifting odds!
Check out Casumo on the day of the game to see the live NFL Super Bowl odds available. In-game betting is the fastest-growing way to bet on events.
For the Super Bowl, that can include everything from which team will lead after the end of the first half to changing odds on who will win the game. For example, if the favorite falls behind early in the game, the odds on that team winning the game will shorten and provide a bigger potential payout if they’re able to rally for the victory.
Other exciting live betting options are based on players. Who will win the game’s MVP award can change from play to play!
With two weeks between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl, the betting odds can shift dramatically.
This is often due to one of two primary factors: injuries to key players and heavy wagering action on one side of a betting market.
Astute bettors will look at the Super Bowl betting lines as soon as they’re established to evaluate if any odds stand out. Professional bettors often take advantage of early lines and their wagers can trigger betting line movement.
It’s also critical to follow news related to key injuries. While there are two weeks between games for players to recover, there is almost always a key injury or two that warrants keeping an eye on in the days leading up to the game.
The 14 days between games also allows for plenty of time to dive deep into the statistics and trends for both teams.
How much experience do the quarterbacks have in the Super Bowl? It’s there an offense or defense on either team that has been trending in a dominating way through the playoffs?
Oftentimes, the teams met during the regular season. While that doesn’t always predict the outcome of a rematch on the world’s biggest sporting stage, it can provide insights into various player and team markets offered on the game.
Remember, the Chiefs were 3.0-point favorites ahead of Super Bowl LV. They went on to lose by more than three touchdowns.
The Over/Under going into the game? It was 65 points – with the Over backed by more than 75 percent of the bets at most sportsbooks.
The 40 total points scored in the game turned out well for the books – along with the bettors who anticipated a lower-scoring game on tap.
